Early-Stage MedTech Venture Investing
Heinz Ventures invests in pre-seed and seed-stage medical technology companies developing regulated products with the potential to materially improve patient care. Founded by longtime MedTech operator and corporate development executive Eric S. Heinz, the firm combines capital with hands-on experience across product development, commercialization, governance, strategic partnerships, and M&A.
Investment Focus
Pre-seed and seed stage MedTech/medical devices; U.S. companies based in the Midwest or Southeast; Class II and above regulated technologies; strategic relevance to eventual acquirers; operator-led involvement.
Investment Philosophy
We believe regulation can create defensibility rather than simply friction. We look for products where technical, clinical, regulatory, and commercial complexity create barriers to entry, and where strategic relevance becomes increasingly clear as the company reaches key milestones.
How We Work With Founders
Governance; commercialization; business development; strategic partnerships; follow-on financing; M&A positioning.
How We Invest
We have cultivated three sources of proprietary deal flow, and focus our efforts to build relationships across this ecosystem. We look to build long-term relationships with the founders we invest in, so we take time to get to know the people, the problem, and the vision the company is looking to pursue.
