Eric Heinz
Founder, CEO and Managing Partner
Eric Heinz brings an engineer’s precision and problem-solving mindset to his role as Founder, CEO, and Managing Partner of Heinz Ventures. He began his career as an engineer at Medtronic Sofamor Danek, where he developed a rigorous approach to assessing risk and opportunity, an approach that continues to guide his work in venture creation, investment, and leadership today.
Over more than two decades in the medtech industry, Eric has built a track record spanning twelve functional specialties. He has led teams that developed regulated medical products generating over $1 billion in annual revenue, and has executed mergers and acquisitions totaling more than $250 million. In his most recent executive role as VP of Market and Corporate Development at Titan Medical, he guided a strategic alternatives process during a pivotal chapter in the company’s evolution.
Eric’s work with Heinz Ventures reflects a deep commitment to advancing early-stage medtech companies with the potential to transform patient care. Beyond his own portfolio activity, he contributes to the ecosystem as a mentor with Health Wildcatters, a judge for Medtech Innovator, and an advisor to leading institutions including the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic. His broad functional expertise, from product development engineering to corporate development, makes him a valued partner for founders navigating complex growth and regulatory pathways.
In addition to leading Heinz Ventures, Eric provides consulting services as a fractional CxO, expert witness, board director, and M&A advisor. His leadership and networking in the industry have earned him a place in the top 1% of LinkedIn’s Industry Social Selling Index.
Eric remains actively involved in mentoring emerging innovators, serving as a mentor to Northwestern’s NM-Q Medtech Fellowship Program, participating as a panelist at the AdvaMed Medtech Conference, and judging the University of Illinois’ Cozad New Venture Challenge.
A lifelong innovator and advocate for medtech entrepreneurship, Eric founded Heinz Ventures in 2015 to inspire, innovate, and invest in groundbreaking healthcare solutions.
He lives in Memphis with his wife and three sons.
